Nutritious school farm.
The farm to school project seeks to re-establish the link between the food students eats and where it comes from through the medium of hands-on constructive education. Students will be able to develop entrepreneurial skills by processing and making products from the produce grown and selling it at school events, while educating their community about healthy eating and the importance of agriculture as sustenance.
FROM FARM TO SCHOOL NETWORK (FF2SN)
From Farm to School Network, commonly referred to as FF2SN, is a program that helps children learn where their food comes from, how it is grown, and offers hands-on experiences with it, in turn making them more likely to accept new foods into their diet.
Girls Farmers Club
Girls Farmers’ Clubs (GFC) was established in 2014 to further the education and farming skills of young girls in agriculture.
The aims and objectives of Girls Farmers’ Club as a voluntary organization include and not limited to the following:
- a) To train up students on how to manage farms.
- b) To acquaint students with different techniques of farming.
- c) To make/encourage students develop interest in agriculture.
- d) To make information available on agricultural breakthrough to improve students’ knowledge.
AGRIC KIDS CLUB (AKC)
The main goal of this club is to provide a fun opportunity for children to broaden their knowledge of agriculture and to interact with other students who have a shared interest in agriculture.
There are several reasons why the establishment of agric kids club is important. Such as:
- Reinforce the relevance of agriculture to children in everyday lives.
- Offer children the opportunity to serve the community.
- Expand children’s leadership skills by conducting demonstrations, lab activities or community outreach events.
- Allow kids to cultivate interest in agriculture in an informal environment, without the pressure of being graded
CASSAVA LINK
Cassava link is a social enterprise that improves food and income security by facilitating Nigerian women farmers with the right tools to efficiently harvest their crops. This technology is designed so that a semi or fully illiterate women farmers in Nigeria can use it.
